I don't write a lot of reviews for amazon.com, but I'm making an exception in this case. Point Blank is a truly exceptional historical novel. A volunteer nurse and a wounded soldier meet in a Washington DC hospital. They gradually get to know each other and fall in love. There's a subplot involving opium diversion and espionage.If you have an even marginal interest in the American Civil War, you really should read this book. The historical detail are impeccable: Right up there with Patrick O'Brien and Steven Saylor. Sarracino's writing style (hard to define but 'I know it when I see it), reminds me of George Orwell's essays and Jonathan Swift.
